Argentine centre honoured by City of Buenos Aires

29-05-2012

The IRCT would like to congratulate member Argentine Team of Psychosocial Work and Research (EATIP) for receiving honours and recognition from the City of Buenos Aires today.

EATIP (in Spanish, Equipo Argentino de Trabajo e Investigación Psicosocial) is honoured today by the city for their human rights work, in particular their psychosocial and psychotherapeutic work and the research and training activities the organisation has carried out since their inception in 1990.

The Buenos Aires city legislature, comprised of 60 elected members, selects individuals, groups or organisations to honour each year.

EATIP has long been involved in addressing the historical crimes of torture and other human rights abuses from the era of the dictatorial regime or ‘dirty war’. The group of psychologists, psychiatrists, medical doctors, among others – an entirely volunteer group – provides much-needed work in documentation of torture, support to victims and witnesses during trials, and, most significantly, their specialisation in psychosocial rehabilitation and support for survivors of torture and the families of victims.
