Thank you for joining this year's 26 June campaign
Every year, the United Nations International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, on 26 June, gives us the opportunity to stand united and remind the world that torture is a cruel violation of human rights.
Fighting Impunity was the theme for the 26 June 2014 campaign. No doubt this is a significant subject all over the world. Everywhere and every day, crimes of torture are committed against men, women and children and, in most cases, no one is prosecuted or punished for them. These crimes are committed with impunity.
Impunity is the failure of the state to fully investigate violations; to bring to justice and punish perpetrators; to provide victims with effective remedies; and to take all necessary steps to prevent a recurrence of the violation.
The campaign theme was chosen by IRCT member centres around the world who voted on their preferred theme.
Tell us about your campaign
This year, more than 70 organisations around the world organised events to mark the day. Most of these will be highlighted in the upcoming 26 June Global Report, distributed globally to hundreds of individuals and organisations.
Please send your campaign report and pictures to firstname.lastname@example.org. We will include your activities in the 26 June Global Report. Please note that the pictures submitted to the IRCT may be used in different materials in connection with our work and/or can be shared through our website, social media sites and other digital means.
