Statutes of International Court and Ad-hoc Tribunals
The Statutes of the different Courts, tribunals and Chambers listed hereafter define the competence ratione materiae of these bodies. All statutes specifically provide for the prosecution of acts of torture and other inhuman treatment either 1) as crimes against humanity when committed as part of a widespread or systematic attack directed against any civilian population and/or 2) as war crimes consisting in a grave breach of the Geneva Conventions and committed against persons or property protected under the provisions of the relevant Geneva Convention.
