Inge Genefke to lecture on pain and torture
19-08-2008The International Association for the Study of Pain has selected IRCT founder Inge Genefke to be the John D. Loeser Distinguished Lecturer at the 12th World Congress on Pain, held in Glasgow this week.
Dr Genefke is being recognised for her longstanding work to alleviate the physical, psychological and social pain associated with torture. As part of the weeklong event, Dr Genefke is giving a distinguished lecture entitled “Pain and suffering following torture” during which she will discuss her more than three decades of experience with torture rehabilitation. Dr Genefke is the second recipient of this lectureship, which honours Dr John D Loeser, a pioneer in promoting pain education and research.
